# What is load-balancing and internet bonding?

Both **load balancing** and **bonding** help improve internet performance by using multiple connections, but they work in different ways.

**1. Load Balancing (Traffic Distribution)**

**🔹 How It Works:**

- Distributes internet traffic across **multiple connections**
- Each session (e.g., one user’s video stream) is assigned to a single internet connection
- Prevents **network congestion** by efficiently managing bandwidth usage

**🔹 Example:**

- You have **two 100 Mbps connections**
- If **one user starts a video call**, they might use **Connection 1**
- If another user downloads a file, they might use **Connection 2**
- Each connection is used separately, optimizing traffic flow

**🔹 Pros:**

✔ Prevents overloading one connection
✔ Improves reliability—if one connection fails, the other remains active
✔ Good for events with **many users or cloud-based apps**

**🔹 Cons:**

❌ **Does NOT combine speeds** (a single user won’t get 200 Mbps from two 100 Mbps connections)
❌ Best for **multiple users**, not single high-bandwidth applications

**2. Bonding (Speed Aggregation)**

**🔹 How It Works:**

- Combines **multiple internet connections into one** faster and more reliable connection
- Works at the **packet level**, meaning one data stream (e.g., a live stream) can use all available bandwidth
- Requires special **bonding routers** or cloud services

**🔹 Example:**

- You have **two 50 Mbps connections**
- A single user can get **100 Mbps total speed** for a live stream or large upload

**🔹 Pros:**

✔ Increases overall speed for **a single user or application**
✔ Improves reliability—if one connection drops, the stream continues
✔ Ideal for **live streaming, video conferencing, or remote work**

**🔹 Cons:**

❌ More **complex** and requires **specialized hardware (the Quick Connect BundleBox)**
❌ Some bonding services may add **latency (the BundleBox does not)**

**Which One Should You Choose?**

✅ **Use Load Balancing** if you have **many users** and want **efficient traffic distribution**.

✅ **Use Bonding** if you need **higher speeds for a single application** (e.g., **live streaming, large uploads**).

✅ **Combine Both** for **ultimate reliability**—use bonding for critical tasks and load balancing for general traffic.

Quick Connect uses both Bonding & Load Balancing to deliver the fastest and most reliable internet for our clients.
